The Ear marks of a Real Revival
There are many signs hat there is a Revival among us!
The signs of Revival
During this time Of God pouring on his spirit. There are some definite earmarks that define what a move of God really is.
Let me share a few of them with you today.
Congregational marks
1. A deep sense of the presence of God descending upon his people.
2. A deep and profound spirit of worship and singing
3. True repentance in turning our hearts towards God
4.A heightened sense of emotion and jubilant excitement for things of God.
Biblical marks
1. Acts 2:1-4) When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them.
Speaking or praying in tongues is definitely a mark of Revival. The charismatic gifts accompanied every outpouring of the Spirit since the day of Pentecost. Some want to dismiss The gifts of the Holy Spirit as if they don't matter at all. I've heard comments like there are no miracles here in this revival ,no heating, just people praising God. alright I understand what they're saying that this is not crazy with charismatic gifts. However, Let us not be too quick to dismiss the moving of the spirit and the power of the spirit when There is revival There will always be an accompaniment of signs and wonders.Im not under appreciating the sweet spirit in Asbury at all, and there seems to be a call here to worship, but eventually if this spreads there will no doubt be the element of gifts and miracles.
2. Acts 2: 40 )With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
Another earmark of a true Revival is salvation and repentance towards God Through faith in Jesus Christ. I have said for years, you cannot have revival Without God breaking forth outside of the walls of the church into the streets where the people are, and salvation spreading like wildfire. .Gods whole purpose in Revival is to save the backsliding church so He can save the lost 🌎 world through the church.
3. Acts 8:5) Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah there. 6 When the crowds heard Philip and saw the signs he performed, they all paid close attention to what he said. 7 For with shrieks, impure spirits came out of many, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed. 8 So there was great joy in that city.
We see here revival spreading through a whole city in Samaria. Notice that with signs and with many healings and demons cast out screaming and running and fleeing from the city because of the power of God.
When we read through the history book of our great and glorious savior Jesus. The book of Acts were immersed in the myriad of miracles happening.
So it's my belief if it's truly a biblical revival there will be a dynamic miraculous supernatural dimension to it. Even the apostle Paul who spent most of his missionary journeys preaching to unsaved people, saw miraculous signs and wonders in his ministry, and it wasn't just the apostles, there were many others like Philip here ,who was not an apostle but yet God mightily used him to bring the gospel and salvation with signs and wonders.
I feel as if people are trying to say that if there are miracles here in Asbury that it would take away from the revival but I beg to differ. When I read the book of Acts I'm not seeing Jesus any less because he performed a miracle through his resurrection power. But rather I'm glorifying Jesus even more for his miraculous power.
Leonard Ravenhill on Revival said this. Does it change the moral climate of the community, are people outside the chapel being saved, are there less crimes and immoral living because of the revival going on inside the chapel -spreading outside to the dying world, If so then you have Revival.
Does it move us to go into all the world and preach the Gospel.
Acts 1:8 you shall receive power when the Holy Ghost comes upon you to be my disciples and witness to all the world.
When we see it spread to the lost and hurting souls around ,we will be able to say with assurance "This what we see and hear is that which Joel the prophet prophecies about. What Peter stood up and declared. The outpouring of the Spirit on all flesh.
Revive us oh Lord!
